A career built on connection

Jane Owiredu Yeboah is an international development leader whose career spans more than 28 years across governance, institutional transformation, humanitarian response, economic development and regional cooperation. Working across African country offices, regional institutions and the United Nations system, she has helped governments and partners navigate complex transitions and translate ambitious policies into measurable results.

Media, markets and early lessons

Jane began as a journalist, producer and presenter in Ghana, where she developed an early media election-monitoring initiative and produced programmes on politics, governance and development. She went on to work in investment facilitation linked to the West Africa Gas Pipeline, in public health programme administration, and in regional trade and grants management with USAID’s West Africa Trade Hub.

Governance and peace in Ghana

As Head of Governance Programme at UNDP Ghana, she helped extend the country’s National Peace Architecture across all ten regions at the time, supported local peace committees and expanded access to legal aid. She also led an electronic joint political party election-results monitoring system designed to encourage coordination and acceptance of electoral outcomes.

A regional view from New York

With UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Africa, Jane monitored developments across 16 West African countries and contributed to peacebuilding and crisis-response initiatives, including Liberia’s Peacebuilding Plan and UN capacity mapping for the Lake Chad Basin. She played a central role in developing the Sahel Offer, “A Regeneration”, and helped mobilize more than US$100 million for Sahel programmes.

Country leadership

Jane has served as Deputy Resident Representative in Eswatini, Senegal, The Gambia and Niger. In Niger she served as Resident Representative ad interim during a period of political transition, overseeing 189 personnel and a portfolio of approximately US$65 million, safeguarding institutional continuity and mobilizing US$20 million in new funding.

Mentor and coach

Beyond her executive roles, Jane is a youth and life coach, mentor and public speaker, committed to developing emerging leaders, supporting women in leadership and helping young Africans turn potential into purposeful action. She is fluent in English and French.
